Wireless self installable crane lmi-rated capacity indicator
If you have a factory crane LMI that has failed and are looking to put on a new system, the most cost effective path for you is to retrofit a Cranesmart Wireless Rated Capacity Indicator onto your crane.
Why?
If you take the path to replace the factory LMI, you will need to have a technician to come onsite to install the system and perform the calibration, this will cost you additional dollars; often airfare, labor & travel charges of up to $5,000.00, or more. This is on top of the system price.
With a Cranesmart Wireless Rated Capacity Indicator you can perform the installation on your own, backed up by our 7 days a week technical support, this will save you $$.
On a Cranesmart Wireless Rated Capacity Indicator, the load weight value is calculated by reading the strain on the wire rope. This is done by using a load pin in a boom tip sheave, a running line tensiometer (linerider) or a dead-end load cell installed at the becket end of the wire rope (most common). A digital load chart is created in the display to show load rated capacity.
Calibration is simpler on an RCI as it removes the step of empty/loaded boom weight calibration for all boom configurations, as seen in an LMI. Cranesmart Load Links are shipped pre-calibrated. Line Rider & Load Pin Calibrations are done on site to train the load sensing device as to the strain on the wire rope and convert it to a weight value. A cable reel and angle sensor are used as it is on the LMI to calculate radius.
On a lattice boom crane, the RCI installation is much simpler and less costly from a calibration perspective as compared to a load moment system. A lattice boom RCI uses a wireless strain gauge load sensor and an angle sensor for radius calculation.
